The principles of fission were simple, and the operation of the reactor was mundane. But that’s not what Red was after.

He planned to test a theory–one of enormous controversy. The mechanism of action lay in the mind. The mind, he theorized, impacted the world through its own perceptions of it. Thoughts were not merely things that spawned actions. A thought was an action itself. A word was more than a word, it became something greater in the mind. And words had power greater than persuasion.
